Man Who ‘Wanted to Avenge Murdered New Zealand Muslims’ Arrested at Montana Gun Range

A man who allegedly wanted to join ISIS and attack random people to avenge the New Zealand mosque shootings was arrested Thursday at a gun range in Montana, authorities have confirmed. Fabjan Alameti, a 21-year-old Albanian national, allegedly told a federal informant that he wanted to fight with ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Alameti also allegedly said he wanted to carry out an attack on U.S. soil and talked about targeting a military facility, recruitment center, government building, gay club, or Jewish temple, NBC News reports. When he found out about the New Zealand mosque massacre, he asked the informant to send him a link to the video. “I will attack random people to avenge the blood," Alameti allegedly told the informant. On Wednesday, Alameti showed up at a firing range, paid $35 to rent a rifle and was arrested when he handled it. He appeared in court Thursday on charges of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance and making false statements involving terrorism.
