The Federal Communications Commission’s internal watchdog is looking into whether chairman Ajit Pai intentionally pushed for new regulations that made it easier for Sinclair, a right-leaning TV network, to buy Tribune Media. Before the $3.9 billion deal, the FCC approved regulations allowing for increased consolidation among TV broadcasters. Pai’s spokesman has denied allegations of wrongdoing.
