Federal officers in Oregon broke through an ongoing protest at Portland’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters early Thursday, ending a standoff that had effectively shuttered the facility for the past nine days. According to KGW8, the officers did not clash violently during the 5:30 a.m. move against the assembled protesters—who have camped out around the clock for two weeks to protest ICE’s border policies—although they are equipped with riot gear. KGW8 reported that authorities were working to clear the entranceway, though OregonLive notes that a few protesters have been taken away in zip-tie handcuffs.
