The first death related to the multi-state E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce has been reported in California, according to NBC Los Angeles. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its numbers Wednesday, totaling 121 reports of people getting sick from eating Romaine in 25 states. At least 52 people have been hospitalized, including 14 who suffered from kidney failure. Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Utah were also added to the list of states affected. The CDC narrowed down the tainted romaine to lettuce grown in Yuma, Arizona, most of which was reportedly sold in the winter.
