Fox News Host Howard Kurtz Condemns Network’s Scripted Interview with Scott Pruitt
‘JOURNALISTIC BREACH’
During his MediaBuzz broadcast Sunday morning, Fox News host Howard Kurtz briefly addressed The Daily Beast’s recent report that his own network had supplied former EPA chief Scott Pruitt with interview questions and even given him script approval prior to his appearances on Fox & Friends. Kurtz noted that Fox has “disciplined the staffers involved but is not disclosing what action was taken.” Like it has on numerous occasions, the network has said the matter is being “addressed internally.” Kurtz ended the short segment by upbraiding his bosses, saying, “Look, it’s not unusual for television producers to respond to pitches or to provide broad topic areas to make sure a guest is prepared to respond. But providing questions and scripts in advance is a journalistic breach and should be absolutely out of bounds.”
