Australian Egg Boy Cautioned by Cops—But Senator Who Punched Him is Cleared
EGGSCAPING JUSTICE
It was the splat heard around the world. When a 17-year-old Australian teen smashed a raw egg on the head of a senator who victim-blamed Muslims right after the New Zealand mosque shootings, the video quickly went viral and he was celebrated as a hero. But now Will Connolly has been cautioned by police, while Senator Fraser Anning—who responded by punching Connolly in the face—has been completely cleared because cops believe he was acting in self defense. “On assessment of all the circumstances, the 69-year-old's actions were treated as self-defence and there was no reasonable prospect of conviction,” Victoria Police said in a statement. The teen also avoided prosecution but will receive an “official caution,” it explained. However, cops said they're still searching for one man who allegedly kicked Connolly while he was pinned to the ground by Anning's supporters. “I understand what I did was not the right thing to do,” the teen told local news last month. “However, this egg has united people.”
