Fredericka Wagner, Mother of Alleged Rhoden Murderers: ‘Nobody Wants Anything to Do With Me Anymore’
ALL ALONE
Fredericka Wagner, the matriarch of an Ohio family in which four people stand accused of brutally murdering eight others in 2016, gave a rare interview Sunday to Cleveland’s The Plain Dealer in which she lamented that “Nobody wants anything to do with me anymore.” Wagner’s son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren face the death penalty for allegedly murdering the Rhoden family in April 2016. Wagner, a former Sunday school teacher who now sports an ankle tracking bracelet, has also been accused of obstruction of justice and perjury for allegedly lying about bulletproof vests she purchased—although her attorneys recently filed a motion to dismiss those charges. In the nearly two-hour interview, Wagner complained about the fallout her family has faced in their small town after her relatives were arrested, noting that one grocery store clerk refused to take a check with “Wagner” on it. She also continued to maintain her family’s innocence. When asked if her relatives were involved in the murders, she reportedly put her hand on a nearby bible and snapped, “Absolutely not. None of us was even near that place that night.”
