French Actor Gérard Depardieu Accused of Rape

French actor Gérard Depardieu was accused of rape and sexual assault by an actress, law-enforcement sources told the BBC. A 22-year-old French actress and author told police on Monday that Depardieu, 69, raped and assaulted her earlier this month at one of his homes. Her agent told French media that she was “devastated” by the alleged assault. Depardieu “absolutely denies any attack, any rape,” his lawyer Hervé Temime told AFP news agency. “I had a long meeting with Gérard Depardieu and I am absolutely convinced his innocence will be established,” Temime told France Info radio.
