The actress, known for her role as nurse Epiphany Johnson, died Monday night, actress Octavia Spencer announced.

General Hospital actress Sonya Eddy died at the age of 55 on Monday night, according to actress and close friend Octavia Spencer. “The world lost another creative angel,” Spencer said in an Instagram tribute Tuesday. Eddy began her run as nurse Epiphany Johnson on the ABC soap opera in 2006, appearing in 543 episodes. She also had guest spots on shows such as Seinfeld, Glee and Fresh Off the Boat. Her cause of death hasn’t been revealed.
