Former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos reportedly lost his last-minute bid to delay a two-week jail sentence that starts Monday. Papadopoulos, who had advised the campaign on foreign policy, pleaded guilty in October 2017 to lying to federal agents in Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian election meddling. U.S. District Court Judge Randy Moss on Sunday rejected Papadopoulos’s claims that Mueller’s probe is unconstitutional, according to Politico. By pleading guilty, Papadopoulos gave up most avenues of appeal, Moss explained in his 13-page ruling. Moss also pointed out several other federal judges have upheld the legality of Mueller’s appointment. While Papadopoulos had asked to delay his sentence pending an appeal to the Washington, D.C. circuit, Moss said there wasn’t enough indication that the appeals court would rule against Mueller’s authority, Politico reported.
