Rudy Giuliani released a statement Friday afternoon that he said was meant to “clarify the views I expressed over the past few days.” On Wednesday, Giuliani said Trump had reimbursed his lawyer, Michael Cohen, for the $130,000 payment he made to porn actress Stormy Daniels. “The payment was made to resolve a personal and false allegation in order to protect the president’s family,” Giuliani said Friday. “My references to timing were not describing my understanding of the President’s knowledge, but instead, my understanding of these matters.” He also said that Trump’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey was “clearly within his Article II power” and called it “plainly in the best interests of our nation.”
