President Trump’s admiration for aesthetics—and a very particular gilded, cable news-ready aesthetic in particular—is already impacting life, liberty and potentially facial liposuction for those in his orbit. According to POLITICO, dermatologists across Washington, D.C. area have noticed an increase in policymakers and power players seeking to book appointments for a sculpted and sharp jawline. “Strong jawlines and prominent chins are de rigueur in Washington," said Dr. Tina Alster, a K-Street dermatologist, who said that in recent years she has seen the number of requests for this particular procedures like chin implants or hyaluronic acid fillers that contour the jaw, nearly doubling. Of course, none of these patients want to admit to it. “(They) seek me out for plausibly deniable results,” said D.C. dermatologist Dr. Noëlle Sherber, who also told POLITICO of a “continual increase” in her clientele. Subtle nips, tucks, fillers and makeovers have long been speculated among those jockeying for attention and prominence in the Capitol—which doctors say has a lot to do with how politicians wish to be perceived in the media. “No one wants to look weak,” said Alster, “on camera (or on stage)!”
