Hillary Clinton posted a debunked line of attack against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday, claiming that the federal judge called birth control “abortion-inducing.” The former Democratic presidential nominee tweeted, in part: “That set off a lot of alarm bells for me, and it should for you, too.” But Politifact and The Washington Post’s fact-checker have noted that Kavanaugh was not expressing his own view on the matter, but was rather summarizing the view of a plaintiff in a specific court case. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) initially tweeted out a deceptively edited video of Kavanaugh’s comments, and followed up with a longer video which included the full context of Kavanaugh’s remarks. The Supreme Court nominee got through last week’s confirmation hearings largely unscathed, and is likely to be confirmed to the high court by the end of the month.
