A police officer delivered the fatal shot that killed a Hofstra University student, police confirmed on Saturday. Dalton Smith broke into the off-campus home of Andrea Rebello, 21, and her sister, Jessica, wielding a 9mm pistol—but there was only one bullet in the chamber and another in the magazine. When the police arrived at the robbery, Smith pointed the gun at them, saying “I’m going to kill her,” one officer said. An officer fired off eight bullets, with one bullet accidentally hitting Rebello and the other seven hitting Smith, who was also killed.
