A U.S.-led coalition serviceman was killed and several others were wounded after a helicopter crashed in Iraq late Sunday. The aircraft was an MH-60 Blackhawk flown by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, known as the Night Stalkers, and was returning from a raid, Newsweek reported. There are no indications that the helicopter, which was conducting a counterterrorism mission, was downed by enemy fire, a spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve said. Army Col. Sean Ryan said: “Our heartfelt condolence to the family of [a Coalition] service member who died in a helicopter crash in Iraq last night. While the incident was not a result of enemy fire, it further demonstrates the sacrifices of Coalition service members and the danger they face everyday.”
