Radical British preacher Anjem Choudary—jailed for inviting support for ISIS—has been released from prison after having served just half of his sentence. The cleric was sentenced in 2016 to five and a half years in prison for leading an extremist network linked to violent jihadis, including one of the killers of soldier Lee Rigby, who was murdered on the streets of London in 2013. Choudary was let out of the high-security Belmarsh prison in southeast London on Friday morning. He was released because of legislation that allows prisoners to serve the second part of their sentences outside of prison with a list of conditions which, if breached, could land him back in jail. British police insist the preacher will be closely monitored through probation officers and a requirement that he report to officials.
