First lady Jill Biden will travel to Martha’s Vineyard for a campaign fundraiser on July 29, according to reports. The event, part of the Biden Victory Fund, will also be attended by David Letterman as a special guest, according to an invitation seen by the Vineyard Gazette. “This is a unique opportunity to meet Jill on her first visit to the island this cycle and get more engaged with the campaign,” organizer Robin Leeds, the CEO of Winning Strategies, wrote in an email, according to the Gazette, which also reported that tickets would range between $2,500 and $25,000. News of the event scheduled for the end of the month comes amid a moment of acute pressure on President Joe Biden’s campaign, with Democratic lawmakers openly calling for him to drop out of the race. Some lawmakers reportedly claim the president—who has so far rebuffed calls to abandon his campaign—could drop out as soon as this weekend.
