Former Vice President Joe Biden reportedly told at least six of his supporters on Tuesday that he intended to run for president in 2020 and asked for their help in “lining up contributions from major donors.” A source told The Wall Street Journal that Biden wanted to raise “several million dollars” but expressed concern that he wouldn't be able to raise as much as Democratic contenders Beto O’Rourke and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who both raised about $6 million in the 24 hours after their announcement. Biden reportedly wants to be able to announce a “large” initial fundraising number to “better compete” with others already in the race. A spokesman for Biden reportedly declined to comment to the Journal. Biden has signaled that he is close to coming to a decision on a potential 2020 run but has not yet made a definitive choice.
