White House Chief of Staff John Kelly contradicted the Department of Homeland Security's own statement denying Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen threatened to quit after President Trump berated her at a recent cabinet meeting. Contrary to that claim, Fox News reporter John Roberts said Kelly told him on Friday afternoon that he “implored” Nielsen not to quit over Trump’s actions towards her. The DHS originally disputed the account, first reported by The New York Times, saying it was outright “false.”
