The Department of Justice filed notice that it will appeal a judge’s ruling last month in favor of a merger between AT&T and Time Warner. Judge Richard Leon ruled that AT&T could acquire Time Warner for $85.4 billion without conditions in June. Following that decision, Makan Delrahim, assistant attorney general in the DOJ’s antitrust division, said the market would be “less competitive and less innovative.”
