A Kansas teacher who was suspended for three days for refusing to use a student’s chosen name and pronouns has won $95,000 in damages from the school district. Pamela Ricard, who claimed she could not honor the child’s wishes for religious reasons, sued after she was punished. The Wichita Eagle reports that the middle school math teacher called the payday a “victory for free speech at public schools.” Ricard retired in May.
