At the historic Thursday hearing, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee briefly sparred over the lack of an FBI investigation into Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations. After Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) objected to the lack of an FBI investigation, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) defended his efforts to give Christine Blasey Ford a fair opportunity to air her allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Grassley was describing his efforts, which included his attempts to give Ford a chance to testify, when he was interrupted by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), who attempted to defend Whitehouse’s claims. Grassley then ignored and spoke over Klobuchar, before giving the floor back to prosecutor Rachel Mitchell.
