Kayleigh McEnany Says Trump’s Taking ’High Road’ in Musk Feud

SURE, JAN

The Fox News host praised her former boss for not “roasting” Elon Musk as their feud explodes.

Kayleigh McEnany thinks one side of the Trump-Musk breakup has the moral high ground.

The former White House press secretary, who now co-hosts Fox News show Outnumbered, used a segment of the Friday episode to praise her former boss for taking “the high road” amid the fiery end of his relationship with Elon Musk.

“Donald Trump has taken the high road here,” McEnany told her Outnumbered panel, echoing fellow Fox News host Jesse Waters, who made a similar comment last night.

The Fox commentator, 37, later added, “President Trump today, he could have roasted Elon Musk. He’s not doing that. He put out five tweets about the economy.”

Of course, while Trump hasn’t publicly “roasted” Musk since the former DOGE administrator accused him of being “in the Epstein files” on Thursday, Musk’s tweets were preceded by a series of digs from the president.

For days before Musk dropped his “really big bomb” on X, the pair had been publicly sparring over Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which Musk called an “abomination.”

Just hours before Musk’s tweet, Trump appeared in a wild press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, where he accused Musk of having “Trump derangement syndrome” for criticizing the Big Beautiful Bill.

“Elon and I had a great relationship,” Trump told reporters. “I don’t know if we will anymore.”

After Musk responded on X by claiming the president “would have lost the election” without him, Trump took to Truth Social to unleash even more jabs, writing that he was considering “terminating Elon’s government subsidies and contracts.”

In a follow-up post, Trump addressed Musk’s recent departure from DOGE, alleging Musk was “wearing thin” and that Trump “asked him to leave” his position. The pair had previously presented the decision as amicable, with Musk claiming he’d “continue to be visiting [the White House] and be a friend and adviser to the president.”

Musk has remained relatively quiet about Trump since yesterday, when he followed up his initial claim about the Epstein files with a second post, which read simply, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

In her Outnumbered segment on Friday morning, McEnany said she hopes the president can work things out with his former right-hand man.

“Let’s hope that for the good of the country… these people come together,” the host told her guests. “Because the richest man in the world and the most powerful man in the world can obviously have quite a partnership for the behest of the American people.”

However, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Trump and Musk will patch things up anytime soon. On Friday morning, two senior officials in the Trump Administration told the New York Times that the president had no plans to call Musk after yesterday’s X firestorm.

Two people with knowledge of Trump’s conversations later added that he has been privately saying Musk is acting “crazy” because of his reported drug use. The president also reportedly plans to get rid of his Tesla.
