Rapper Chris Kelly of the ’90s duo Kris Kross died Wednesday, possibly of a drug overdose, police said. Kelly was 34. According to a police spokesman, authorities were called to Kelly’s home at around 4:30 p.m., and Kelly was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5 p.m. Kelly, known as Mac Daddy, was half of the kid rap group Kris Kross, whose debut album, Totally Krossed Out, went multiplatinum in 1992, with the megahit “Jump.” But they were never able to live up to the success of the first album, and in recent years, Kelly suffered from alopecia, which caused hair loss.
