Pete Hegseth’s purge of top military brass has infuriated one of MAGA’s most ardent devotees.
Newsmax host Greg Kelly, 57, brutally needled the self-anointed secretary of war, 45, over the abrupt ouster of the Army’s highest-ranking uniformed officer and two other senior leaders amid the war with Iran.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced on Thursday that Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George would retire after decades of service, following a CBS News report that Hegseth wanted to replace him with someone more aligned with the administration.
Two other decorated Army generals, Gen. David Hodne and Maj. Gen. William Green Jr., were also ousted.

“Hegseth….Weirdo DRAMA ‘somehow’ follows this guy everywhere he goes,” Kelly, a military veteran, wrote in a scathing screed on X Friday.
“The word is another General ‘looked at him funny’ so PETE (drunk on power-hopefully just power) Fired the guy,” he went on, mockingly referencing Hegseth’s long-documented love of drinking. “From ‘Fox and Friends’ Birthday Parties to the SITUATION ROOM, it’s always A Problem with this guy. He Lied to the Trump Admin about his extensive Personal Issues, and now he’s blowing up Army Careers of Good Men—because of his personal INSECURITY. Paranoid Pete!”

Kelly shares a similar background with the ever-embattled defense secretary: He spent nine years as an attack pilot with the U.S. Marine Corps before rising to fame as a conservative broadcast journalist.
Their similarities might help explain why Kelly has been going after Hegseth in recent social media posts.
On Wednesday, after Hegseth scrapped an investigation into Army pilots who flew a military helicopter near Kid Rock’s Nashville home for a cringey stunt, Kelly went off on X.
“So what if those ‘fly boys’ flew by Madonna’s house and Took a Bow? Or Robert DeNiro. That would Not be cool, right? But it’s just fine for Kid Rockhead?” he wrote.

“What an amateur move, posting it on Social Media. Meanwhile HEGSETH runs the Pentagon like he ran his phony ‘non-profits’ —RECKLESSLY. He has No business Micro-Managing Army Units. They MUST Discipline Hot Dog Pilots performing Unauthorized Stunts. Because Next Time something could go Very Very Bad,” Kelly warned.
The Defense Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
