Workers at the upscale Manhattan cafe Sarabeth’s were stunned Sunday morning when a man reportedly leapt out of their walk-in freezer and began screaming about the devil, according to the New York Post. When a worker opened the freezer, the man reportedly yelled “away from me, Satan,” before grabbing a knife and threatening the staff. The staff managed to subdue the man, who fell unconscious during the struggle. Officials said the man later died, either from a preexisting condition or accidentally cutting himself during the fight. The man’s presence stunned other restaurant managers. One—who noted that although the cops said the man was in a freezer, it was probably a refrigerator—suggested that he may have camped out there to escape the city’s blistering heat. Another simply noted, “it’s just crazy... only in New York.”
