A man was charged with stalking after allegedly harassing WNBA star Caitlin Clark. Michael Lewis, 55, a Texas resident, was arrested on Sunday in Indianapolis—the city where Clark’s team, the Indiana Fever, calls home. The man was charged with stalking after the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said he sent threatening and sexually explicit messages to Clark on social media. “It takes a lot of courage for women to come forward in these cases, which is why many don’t,” prosecutor Ryan Mears wrote. “In doing so, the victim is setting an example for all women who deserve to live and work in Indy without the threat of sexual violence.” After police confronted Lewis and told him to stop, he continued to post on social media in the days following, claiming that it was “just an imaginary relationship,” according to a probable cause was reviewed by ABC News. On Saturday, Clark told officials she didn’t know the man and was “very concerned for her safety” due to his presence in Indianapolis.
