This might be scarier than sudden acceleration. Mazda recalled thousands of cars in the United States because of a spider that likes the smell of gasoline and builds its webs in the vent line. The unusual design of the Mazda6’s gas tanks pipes is a draw for the Yellow Sac spider, which is common in the U.S. However, the gas fumes aren’t strong enough to kill the spider, so it builds its web there, which could clog the line and increase pressure in the fuel tank. As part of the recall of over 50,000 cars, Mazda will install a spring in the vent line to keep out the spiders.
