Michael Brown’s Father Asks for Peace

GIVE IT A CHANCE

Ahead of grand jury’s decision.

Michael Brown Sr., father of the unarmed teen whose death sparked violent protests in Ferguson, Missouri, asked for peace in a video recording Thursday, regardless of whether a grand jury indicts Officer Darren Wilson, the man who shot his son. “My family and I are hurting,” he says in the video. “Our whole region is hurting. I thank you for raising your voices to end racial profiling and police intimidation. But hurting others or destroying property is not the answer. No matter what the grand jury decides, I do not want my son’s death to be in vain. I want it to lead to incredible change, positive change, change that makes the St. Louis region better for everyone.” The video was released by St. Louis Forward, an organization which provides information to “create a new standard of inclusion for all residents.”
