Politico co-founder and Chief Executive Jim VandeHei, veteran journalist Mike Allen, and three other senior executives are expected to leave the publication after the November presidential election, a staff memo revealed Thursday. The Huffington Post first reported the shakeup, noting that Chief Operating Officer Kim Kingsley, Chief Revenue Officer Roy Schwartz, and Executive Vice President Danielle Jones would also be “seeking their own new adventures” later this year. Owner Robert Allbritton said he would assume the role of chief executive while John Harris, who founded Politico nine years ago with VandeHei, would stay on as publisher and editor in chief. VandeHei, staffers, and Allbritton have reportedly clashed over spending and budgets. A source told The Huffington Post the employees who are leaving plan to build their own news outlet. However, VandeHei has expressed interest in moving back to Wisconsin and running for office, a source said.
