Canadians are pushing back against Donald Trump’s plan to make Canada the 51st U.S. state—this time, recruiting Mike Myers to get the message across. The Austin Powers star and prominent Canadian joined Prime Minister and Liberal Party leader Mark Carney to support his “elbows up” campaign ahead of the country’s snap election, which shows Conservatives and Liberals in a tight race. The term originates from ice hockey and is meant to evoke resistance. The Liberal party has run successfully so far on an anti-Trump message after the American president began an all out trade war on Canada in January, crippling relations between the two. In the video, Carney quizzes Myers on stereotypical Canadian topics at an ice rink after the actor admits to living in the U.S.: children’s show Mr. Dressup, which aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, hockey, and weather in Toronto (which they declared as “winter and construction”). Myers aced all of the questions before asking, “Will there always be a Canada?” Carney reassures him that there will be, as Myers turns around to reveal a “Never 51″ jersey, digging at Trump’s very own words.
