Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, who is a candidate for U.S. Senate this year in Utah, said on Wednesday that he voted for his wife, Ann, for president in 2016 instead of Donald Trump. “I wrote in the name of a person who I admire deeply, who I think would be an excellent president,” the former GOP presidential candidate told the Deseret News editorial board. “I realized it wasn’t going to go anywhere, but nonetheless felt that I was putting in a very solid name.” Romney was highly critical of Trump during the 2016 campaign.
