Mitt Romney might make every effort to appear as conservative as possible on the campaign trail, but he went out of his way Monday to announce his support for President Obama’s initiative to keep federal student-loan rates down. “Particularly with the number of college graduates that can’t find work and can only find work well beneath their skill level, I fully support the effort to extend the low interest rate on student loans,” he said. Romney’s support for the Obama proposal might come as a shock, but he is still a proponent of Paul Ryan’s budget, which, Obama has argued, would double student-loan interest rates.
