ATTACK UPDATE

Most Victims in Toronto Van Attack Were Women

Toronto police on Friday announced the identities of the 10 people who were killed in the Toronto van attack earlier this week. The victims were mostly women, with eight women and two men killed. They were all between the ages of 22 and 94. A law-enforcement official said that the senior citizens killed “may have come from an old age home in the vicinity.” One South Korean and one Jordanian died, while the rest of the victims resided in the Toronto area, officials said. Twelve people remain in the hospital with injuries. Two others who were injured but did not go to the hospital have recently come forward, which may mean that suspect Alek Minassian will be charged with 16 counts of attempted murder, up from 14. Minassian is also charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder, and is expected to appear in court on May 10. He reportedly praised Elliot Rodger, the UCSB mass shooter who hated women, on social media.
