Lindsey Graham: Mueller Report’s Public Release Could Take ‘Weeks Not Months’
INCOMING
Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 election could be released to the public in “weeks” rather than months, according to McClatchy. Politico also reports that Graham said he intends to speak with Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday night about releasing a redacted version of the Mueller report to the public.“I’m going to talk to him tonight,” he said, calling on Barr to “release the report, come to the committee and testify.” Graham reportedly said the redaction process would likely include Barr looking at the report for grand jury information, authorities screening it for “intelligence sources and methods,” and the White House having a look at it with a chance to claim executive privilege on some of the findings.
A Justice Department official reportedly told NBC News the report’s public release would take “weeks not months,” but said there weren't any plans to give the White House an advance copy of the report before the public got to see it. Mueller submitted his report to Barr late last week, and Barr briefed Congress on its findings over the weekend—which found no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and no conclusion on whether Trump committed obstruction of justice.
