Murdered Teen Maggie Long Was ‘Purposefully Set on Fire and Burned Alive’: Police
HORRIFIC
Authorities believe 17-year-old Maggie Long was “purposefully set on fire and burned alive” inside her family’s Colorado home in December 2017, after three suspects spent a “significant amount of time with her” in the house, Park County Sheriff Tim McGraw said in a press conference Monday. “We believe this was a targeted crime and that there are at least three suspects still at large,” McGraw said. “Maggie was purposely set on fire and burned alive.” McGraw said there was a “physical altercation” between Long and the three suspects, before they stole several guns, a gun safe, and jade figurines. They then set the house on fire to cover up the robbery, police said. Those three suspects are still at-large, the sheriff said, before releasing new sketches of the suspects and new photos of a car similar to the one seen near Long’s home the day she was killed. Police are now issuing a $50,000 reward for information on the case and have created a new website so the public can leave anonymous tips. Long was reported missing after she failed to show up to a high school concert. Officers discovered the teenager’s body that night, but it took days before the coroner’s office was able to identify her remains.
