Nancy Pelosi has said she will seek to retain her position as leader of the House Democrats as long as Donald Trump is in power. While admitting “it’s time for new blood” in her party, the veteran politician told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, “As long as [Trump’s] here, I’m here.” Pelosi appeared confident of a good performance in the midterm elections, saying, “If the election were held today, we would win overwhelmingly and women would lead the way.” She appeared to rule out attempting to impeach the president, saying: “Our priority (is) unifying. Impeachment is a very divisive approach. Elections should determine who is in office.”
