Nine people were killed in Cairo in overnight clashes, with at least six dying at the city’s main university. The six were reportedly killed near the site of a sit-in by former president Mohamed Morsi’s supporters, according to Khaled el-Khateeb, who heads the Egyptian Health Ministry’s emergency and intensive-care department. More than 60 have been killed since Morsi was ousted on July 3—and his party, the Muslim Brotherhood, refusing to recognize the new government, has organized rallies throughout the country. In Cairo on Monday, at least one person was killed and Egyptian state TV reported that seven Morsi supporters were arrested for possession of illegal weapons.
