The officer who arrested Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he has no apologies for his actions. According to Boston.com, Sergeant James Crowley responded to accusations of profiling by saying, simply: "I am not a racist." Crowley had no comment on President Obama's news conference on Thursday, in which Obama said that the Cambridge police "acted stupidly" in arresting Gates. The police department has supported the officer, but the charges against Gates, who was trying to get into his house when neighbors suspecting a robbery called the cops, have been dropped. Gates is considering a lawsuit and asking for an apology from the officer.
