The National Rifle Association on Wednesday responded to President Donald Trump’s newfound positions on gun control, saying his meeting with lawmakers amounted to “great TV” but “bad policy that would not keep our children safe.” Trump hosted lawmakers at the White House earlier Wednesday and bucked GOP orthodoxy on guns multiple times. “Take the guns first, go through due process second,” Trump said. The president also suggested raising the age for buying an assault rifle, which the NRA opposes. Additionally, Trump urged lawmakers not to include concealed-carry language in their legislation—something the NRA views as one of its top priorities.
