NYT: Bill Shine, Trump Comms Director, Was Subpoenaed in Fox News Sexual-Harassment Case

Trump Communications Director Bill Shine was subpoenaed last year in the criminal investigation into Fox News’ handling of sexual-harassment complaints, The New York Times reports. Instead of testifying to a grand jury, Shine agreed to be interviewed by prosecutors, a source told the Times. During that period, prosecutors were seeking information about Shine's reported role in reaching and hiding settlements and silencing accusers, another source said. Shine was previously accused in multiple lawsuits of concealing Roger Ailes’ misconduct. Ailes left the network in 2016 after allegations against him became public. President Trump reportedly did not listen to advisers who warned him that hiring Shine could draw attention to the 19 women who previously accused Trump of sexual misconduct. “Our president is telling the world he doesn’t care about creating a healthy work environment,” said Rudi Bakhtiar, a former Fox News reporter who was fired after reporting sexual harassment.
