After presenting his new gun control proposals, President Obama sat down for an exclusive interview with The New Republic. In the wide-ranging interview, he took a swipe at football: “I have to tell you, if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football.” He also blamed the news media for much of the gridlock in Washington, saying, “If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News or by Rush Limbaugh for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you'll see more of them doing it.” Obama also said that he himself has fired a gun and that he regularly shoots skeet at Camp David, adding, “And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake."
