President Barack Obama went back to school on Sunday to deliver a commencement speech to Virginia’s Hampton University. Obama told graduates at the historically black college that democracy needs a workforce that is educated and well-informed, and that he hoped their education had opened their minds. “Now that your minds have been opened, it’s up to you to keep them that way,” said Obama. “And it will be up to you to open minds that remain closed that you meet along the way.” He also called on the new graduates to not only succeed in their work, but also to serve their communities as role models and mentors.
