Amy Schumer has officially filed for divorce from husband Chris Fischer after seven years of marriage, per court records obtained by People.
Schumer first announced that she was separating “amicably” from her chef husband on Dec. 12. Schumer, 44, and Fischer, 45, share a 6-year-old son, Gene.
The legal move comes just after the comedian posted several bikini-clad photos of herself on Instagram, captioning the post, “This year is about self-care and self-love.”

Schumer and Fischer took a loss when they offloaded their famous home—the Brooklyn Heights brownstone that served as one of the settings for Nicolas Cage and Cher’s Oscar-winning 1987 movie, Moonstruck. The home sold for $11 million in December, which was $3 million below the asking price and $1.25 million less than what they paid for it in 2022.
Last month, Schumer announced their breakup on social media by writing, “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
In the since-deleted posts, she also clarified that the separation was “not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag [a] basket and not because he’s a hot Janimes [sic] Beard Award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.”
They remain committed to co-parenting their son, with a source telling Page Six that Schumer “expects that they’ll co-parent full-time together and that he’ll see Gene almost as much as he does now—if not more,” and adding, “They are still largely under the same roof, for the kid’s sake.”
