New details are emerging about the night of Feb. 6, when Vice Mayor Wang Lijun showed up at the American consulate in Chengdu asking for asylum. Wang said he had information about corruption and murder, but American diplomats released him into Chinese custody after 36 hours. While no one has heard from Wang in two months, he is currently under investigation for discussing Chinese affairs.
