Kyrgyzstan's deposed president will be put on trial by the interim government that took power this month amid violent protests in the Central Asian country's capital and other cities. Warrants have been issued for family and allies of Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the ousted leader, the interim government said. Bakiyev himself will face trial for the killing of many protesters in the capital and for abuse of power and other crimes. The interim government is investigating 200 crimes it says were committed by the ousted administration, including corruption and human rights abuses. Bakiyev has fled the country, but the new government hopes other high-ranking officials from his administration will turn themselves in. Interim leaders say Bakiyev faxed his resignation from Kazakhstan; they hope to extradite him.
