"Let the Revolution Begin," states an ad for the new Benelli Vinci 12-gauge shotgun, at the National Rifle Association's annual convention in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend. The revolution will certainly be profitable—about 70,000 people are coming to spend $20 million on local restaurants, hotels, and businesses. Even Sarah Palin will have to spend money—she's not taking a fee for headlining the event. Only one Democrat, Representative Heath Shuler of North Carolina, is scheduled to speak; the rest are Republicans, including Representative Mike Pence of Indiana, Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina, Senator John Thune of South Dakota, and former House speaker Newt Gingrich.
