Lest her competitors for the 2012 presidential nomination overshadow her, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin made a dramatic return to the domestic political scene on Saturday, ripping President Obama—and Republicans, too—for their latest budget deal during a speech in Madison, Wisconsin. “This is not courage, this is capitulation,” Palin said of the $38 billion in cuts scheduled for 2011, far below Tea Party hopes of $100 billion. Returning to Obama, Palin said, “We didn’t elect you to just rearrange the deck chairs on a sinking Titanic. We didn’t elect you just to stand back and watch Obama redistribute those deck chairs.” Palin has been under the radar ever since January, when the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords threw blame on her feisty rhetoric.
