The Philadelphia Eagles will play the returning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in this year’s Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. The Eagles and the Chiefs will face off once again, giving Philadelphia a chance for a rematch after losing to Kansas City 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII in 2023. The AFC Championship game was a nailbiter, with Kansas City edging out the Buffalo Bills in the fourth quarter by a single field goal. The Chiefs pulled off a close victory against their division rivals—who previously handed the dominating team one of only two losses during the regular season. The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid, will now advance to their third Super Bowl in a row, hoping to be the first team in history to win three back-to-back titles. Meanwhile, the Eagles routed their NFC East rivals, the Washington Commanders, in a 55-23 blowout that saw quarterback Jalen Hurts pass for 246 yards and a touchdown, while scrambling for another 13 and three more touchdowns. Star running back Saquon Barkley also rushed for three more touchdowns, after becoming only the ninth player in NFL history to run for over 2,000 yards in a season. The Big Game will be broadcast on Fox this year on Sunday, Feb. 9, and will feature a halftime show performance by Kendrick Lamar.
