The murder of an Irvine, California, man at a Los Angeles campground last Friday has sparked additional investigation into a series of mysterious shooting deaths in the area, according to a Tuesday report from the Los Angeles Times. The Times reports that Tristan Beaudette was shot around dawn, while camping with his 4- and 2-year-old daughters at the Malibu Creek State Park. Although there is no established link between Beaudette’s death and the other shootings, officials note that there have been a concerning amount of incidents in the park’s history, including last year’s attempted shooting of Meliss Tatangelo (the bullet missed her by an inch while she was sleeping, she says), and of James Rogers, who was hit in the arm two years ago but survived. Officials told the Times that the campground will remain closed until further notice, citing safety concerns for park visitors.
